John 8: Continue in My Word

If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free

John 8:31-32

Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

  1. What did Jesus say to those Jews who believed Him?

      Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
      Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.
  2. If you continue in His Word, what will you know?

      And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

  3. When you know the Truth, and not just other people’s opinions, what will the truth do to you?

They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?

Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.

If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

      They answered Him, "We are Abraham's descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can you say, 'You will be made free'?"
  2. What did Jesus say about everyone who commits sin?

      Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
      Jesus answered them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.

  5. If the Son makes you free, what will you indeed be?

  6. So here is the big question If you believe in Jesus, but you refuse to continue in His word, what will you be a slave to?
    • John 8:34
      Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
      Jesus answered them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.
